"Sleep Project" Art Installation |SIX Dogs, Athens, 2011|

In June of 2011 Marianna Athanasiadou took part in Sleep Project, an art installation project, conceptualized by the director Tonia Ralli (Nostalghia Theater Co.). Five different artists had to remain in the art gallery of Six Dogs for 24 hours, completing a piece of their art, showing to the public their whole process of work, from implementation to design.

Marianna decided to create a place where someone could actually sleep/dream/think. It was a transparent box, internally cutout in the shape of a person sitting/laying comfortably, from many layers of bubble wrap. The space symbolized a womb, a private space that intentionally allowed someone to rest through its lightness of materiality.
